04:12 pm: "Most Important"
In yesterday's WashPost, a couple of staff writers wrote "one of the most expensive and most important projects in the District" about the new ballpark for the Nationals. In another part of yesterday's paper, there's article about how much the city needs affordable housing, and how activists are trying to make churches move on their owned housing. I think housing is a lot more important than a new ballpark!

Nice quiet day today -- I'm going to refill the fountain and birdfeeder in a bit.

Pro-stadium (several stadiums) forces in Minnesota have come up with a number of reasons why Minneapolis citizens should pay for such things -- rather than frivolous things like housing, police, and road repair.

One which didn't last: "Without major league teams, Minneapolis would be a cold Detroit." Some people noticed that Detroit does have sports teams.

New stadiums may be sparkly, but affordable housing and other maintenance government is a lot more important. Sorry you guys are stuck with this, too.
