Fios in the Closet

I watched TV last night and then read the paper, getting to bed at 1:30am. I read until 4am and then slept until the alarm went off at 7am. I got dressed, opened the shades, unlocked the storage room on the porch, and went back to sleep in the recliner with Spirit. She is becoming more and more scared of things she doesn't see anymore. It took me three tries to get her under the duvet, even though she was scraping at it, to get in.

The truck came at 9:30am and when the guy came over my railing and opened the door, he uttered unhappy words. Then he saw I was there. It didn't take him long to put the Fios stuff in, put my stuff back in, and move on to the next building. They're going to start putting in the underground cables and then if you want Fios, it will be wired from the storeroom into the condo. I think I'll stay with Comcast for a while -- I'm more comfortable with three separate companies for TV, Net, and Phone.

It was 10:30am when I put the duvet away and went back to sleep in the bed. I woke up at 3:30pm. I tried the Philadelphia Creme again -- with rice and cut chicken thighs -- and that actually turned out to taste good (although excessively light-colored). I may try another flavor.

A couple of memories brought up recently. Colonial Williamsburg is advertising now and when I was well, I had an annual pass for them. I went every other month or so and this time I was going on to Charlottesville to do some hiking before I came home. But while I was walking around Williamsburg, I started wheezing very badly and came home. This was the first sign of the lung disease triggered by the anesthesia from my last ankle surgery. And after that I haven't gone to places like Williamsburg or Charlottesville.

The big flood that's headed toward New Orleans is bigger than than Katrina. I had a friend who lived in New Orleans, loved it, and was massively bipolar, mostly depressed. We talked her into getting out before the storm hit but a year later, she insisted on going back. About two weeks later, her sister called me. She said I was on the list. My friend was so hurt at what New Orleans was like that she found good homes for her cats and killed herself.

Facebook is smearing Google.

Interview with Stan Lee.

The Library of Congress and Sony have set up a website where you can download free 10,000 pieces of music, speeches, etc., from before 1925.
