Romania is thinking about a law where witches can be fined or jailed if their predictions don't come true.

I knew a lot of Mexicans were killed because of drug cartels, and recently one of our ICE agents was killed. But I had no idea that 34,000 Mexicans were killed in the last four years because of drug violence.

I know a few border patrol officers and they wish that the US would enact much stronger laws against illegal immigrants. One friend works CA/Mexico, the other AZ/Mexico and both said that 90% of the people they catch are carrying drugs. Its also not unusual for them to be fired upon as they patrol the border.
I wonder if they were to legalize drugs, but tax and restrict it even more then alcohol, if it might end some of the violence in both countries.

If you'd read the article, you would have known those 34K folks who were killed were Mexicans in Mexico and were killed by the drug groups. :)

I keep hearing about Mexicans being killed in Mexico, but didn't realize the numbers were that high. Around here (Bay Area), Mexican drug dealers/growers (?) have started cultivating plots in the hills or the National Parks (easier than bringing the stuff across the border) and DEA finds them either during fly-overs or when a vineyard owner discovers that his water bill has gone sky high (they tap into the water supply). There is the odd shoot out and it's quite a mess.

Yeah, we have pot growers just west of here, in the Appalachians and lands around them, but they're usually white folk. We also have batches of meth labs around -- one was recently found in a dorm room.
