An interesting article in yesterday's WashPost about how kids, boys in particular, will make anything a gun and how that works with parents who are afraid to have their kids see guns.
When Rick and I were kids, we frequently played adventure -- down the Mississippi on a raft, the jungle gym our starship to space, etc. -- and we both played guns, although ours were usually invisible. I do have this picture, though, although I don't know who the boy is. That's definitely me with the cowboy getup:
