I saw a neighbor get her car out over virgin melting ice so I tried it and it worked! I came back in and got a coat and the grocery list and the stuff to mail and set out. It was really warm (52F) until the sun went down. At twilight, there were a lot of pink contrails from Dulles.

I have someone coming tomorrow to do a lot of little things around the house. I'll pay him more than I paid the neighbor when I had him do it, but the neighbor was squeezing it between his real work and his girlfriend, and this way it will all be done tomorrow (assuming the washer just needs to be leveled -- if not, a washer repairperson).
