07:32 pm: Nephrologist
I really hurt today and had a lot of trouble walking. I got the trash and recycling out and had to rest a bit before I got back in the driver's seat and headed out. I've lost 18 pounds since the beginning of the year and nine in the last six weeks. I told her I was having trouble eating -- most days getting closer to 500 calories a day instead of the required 1000 calories minimum -- and she said I didn't look perky. She pushed rather strongly for me to admit that I'm more depressed again and she's right. When I got home, I left a message for my psych.

I asked if I could stop the generic Fosamax because I have a lot of trouble remembering the morning routine it requires before I've already ruined it. She said I should set up a bone scan and we'll see, so I'll call for that appointment tomorrow.

She also told me that the rheumatologist is leaving Kaiser! And I didn't know it, but I have the last appointment on June 30th. I like the rheumatologist best and I'll miss her. I'll have to have her recommend someone else to see.

I stopped at Outback on the way home because they have a side salad I like -- mixed greens with bleu cheese and pecans and a balsamic dressing -- and they also had a new appetizer: six jumbo shrimp. That was a very nice meal and I ate all of it.

A fascinating article on when origami meets rocket science plus a gorgeous gallery of photos (and an annoying 11-second Amway advertisement).

I am so sorry to hear about all this. Hurting is bad enough, losing a doctor you like is not good at all and all the other stuff on top of that. I hope you'll find a good doctor you like as well to replace her and your other doctors will be able to work out something about the meds that works for all of you.
Take good care,
Doris
