That's what the news says we have at our airport (the largest municipal airport in Virginia) and I was thinking I couldn't really tell here, since the wind is blowing a lot of the snow around, but then a neighbor across the street started getting the snow off his car and yes, it's probably 29".

At our airport, one of the hangers collapsed because of the snow. Fortunately, no people or planes were inside, but the collapse set off a gas leak. The last news said they were waiting for the gas company to come fix it. In DC, a church collapsed because their flat roof had about four feet of snow. The walls just flopped out. Also, nobody there. This is why you put in L-shaped connectors that work to keep the roof on in hurricanes, too.

ETA: St. John's school in St. Mary's county has collapsed. The priest was planning to have mass tomorrow.

Most people without power are in Northern Virginia, but close to that is Gaithersburg, MD. Our power comes underground, so I don't expect to have any problems. The development north of us has some wide-branched pine trees and none have fallen yet, but the branches are now almost straight down. Fortunately, their power also comes underground.

In other news, DoD is going to start making Plan B available at military hospitals and health care centers. They're worried that too many female military get pregnant. Sure, some of them may be doing it on purpose to go home, but they never talk about how many are raped.

Merchandisers at the Tea Party Convention are selling sterling tea bag necklaces which means I'll never be able to wear my teapot & cups earrings again.

Which airport, IAD or Manassas? The hangar collapse would indicate IAD.

Both, it turned out -- ours was first. There were four people in the Dulles hanger, but they were able to get out in time, and there's no gas leak.

The third picture in the slideshow with this article has an aerial picture of our collapsed hanger.
