06:26 pm: The Eighteenth Annual Collection of The Year's Best Science Fiction edited by Gardner Dozois
I was reading stories in here when I finished one of Al Reynolds' books before time to turn the light out, so I finished it this week. It has stories from 2000, ten years back. Dozois does his usual summation at the front where I was reminded of places online that I helped with or frequented that are now gone.

The stories themselves were good, although in this book he's still getting a lot from Asimov's, and I have a subscription to that.

I always think the editions of this anthology are good; Dozois has an excellent eye for stories, and so while I probably shouldn't recommend this because it's out of print, you can always read the current one.

I have a soft spot for this one: I hadn't been reading many short stories for a while & this was my big re-introduction to the joys of the shorter form.

I'm always surprised at how many people don't like short stories. If nothing else, they let you read something of a new author and decide if you like them or not.
