08:15 pm: Haiti and Sleep
The State Department has announced that you can give directly to the Red Cross by texting the word Haiti to 90999. That will put $10 on your phone bill.

After sleeping with Spirit from 5pm to 8pm last night, I came back to read LJ and ML and that took long enough that I had the VCR watch "NCIS" and "The Good Wife." I ended up able to watch those at 11:35pm plus the "Two and a Half Men" and "Big Bang Theory" I taped Monday. Then I read the WashPost and was done with all of that at 3am. I read until 6:30am and decided just to wake up when I did. It didn't work quite that way since Junie started waking me up at noon and my upstairs neighbor knocked at 2:30pm to see if he could get my mail for me. I know I can't get up, dangle, put on glasses, shoes, a robe, and walk down the hallway in the amount of time he'll wait, so I didn't even start that.

I did get up at 3:15pm and took the recycling out. Now I'm late again, but I think I'll be asleep earlier and get up closer to noon.

I missed Junie's birthday -- she was five on 2/10.

It's really encouraging to see how generous people are with donations, isn't it?
I keep checking the Craft Hope etsy site for cool things - as if I needed anymore. They are giving to Doctors without Borders and doing very well.

Yes, it's really good. The important part, though, is to make sure it's money that actually ends up with the charity because they're not going to be able to distribute clothes for a long time, for example. Today's WashPost says there's too much rioting for the current batch of UN peacekeepers and others will be going. But they can't help those people who are rioting, they have to become more orderly.
