06:12 pm: The Opthalmalogist and Voting
Between getting in the car, voting, and getting on the road up to the Kaiser center I was going to took 10 minutes. There were two people going out as I came in and two coming in as I went out. All four were black, and statistics say they're more likely to vote Democratic. It's too early for results yet. I didn't vote on the two unopposed incumbents and got about four or five extra screens asking me "was I sure?" "Was I really sure?" I should have just voted for them.

I get dilated every other year and this was the year so I set up a crochet scarf last night because I can do that with my eyes shut. The tech got me set up and the doctor came in and redid the pressures. Mine are higher than normal and than my last years, but I am back on prednisone again. He said I should come back in six months to do pressures again.

He also told me that a study was done in the past year and the Restasis (which he ordered for me) can be used one amp a day instead of two, as long as you don't let the open top touch you or anything else. The ampoules are curved toward the opening, so as long as it's somewhere it won't move or be run into, it will be okay. It can't be used for two morning doses because that's too long. That means the Restasis will be only about $100/month -- I'll know for sure tomorrow when I get labs and pick it up.

While the tech was putting the anesthetic and dilating fluids in my eyes, he asked me to brush my hair away from my eyes so I don't get another dye on my hair. I said my hair wasn't dyed and the bit about silver hair again, but he didn't answer. I looked when I got home; the silver hair is there.

My first time voting in a government election using "instant runoff voting"! I hope it continues to spread; it's not perfect (Arrow's theorem, etc.), but I think it's very good for a lot of kinds of voting.

You guys have more than two parties, though, so it makes more sense!
