06:07 pm: Don't Want to Write
I think I'm the only person I know who doesn't want to write; I want to read. And of those people, a lot are doing NaNoWriMo or some version of it.

Spirit and Junie had a brawl this morning while I was in bed and they were both hiding by the time I got out here. Then Junie chased Spirit later, so I'm going to have to do something about Junie, too.

I got money for the week and went to get groceries. I was using one of those complicated buy-this-get-that deals and I asked the cashier if the computer had done it and she said "yes," but when I checked the slip at home, it hadn't. I'll take it with me tomorrow and take care of it then or Wednesday.

The WashPost's Outlook section (other people's opinions) has been running a "5 Myths of X" every Sunday for a while and in yesterday's "5 myths about our land of opportunity," it says In addition, we have seen a growing tendency among well-educated men and women to marry each other Erm, duh?

Also in yesetrday's WashPost, but in the Literary Calendar, it gives news that the last The Wheel of Time book will be three books. I've only read the first two, but I know a lot of people were upset when the last book got divided into two. Now, apparently, it's three.

I don't want to write either. Practically the only times I had to serve detention in school was for missing deadlines on creative writing projects.

I'm surprised Wheel of Time fans are so surprised by this news; I've known about it for months, and I stopped caring a couple books ago.

I don't want to write in the sense of it being my life's work, and/or writing salable stuff. I feel sometimes that I MUST write, but just to get my thoughts into words so that others can respond. Like this.

I'm not so much with the writing either. I keep thinking about NaNoWriMo and deciding I don't have the energy. Then again, a lot of that is the frustration of weeding my own internal slush pile.

I like the idea of writing.

The nuts & bolts, not so much. Besides I have a couple of papers I'm supposed to be writing for work anyway.

Writing

I really have no desire to write, although I do Beta. I would much rather read the writings and musings of others. I do know several people doing NaNoWriMo though.

You do write quite a bit online, of course, and you have for many years. Might be hundreds of thousands of words, if we counted it all up.

I like to write nonfiction, and would like to do more. I wrote a chapter for a book that's now in press. I have negligible interest in writing fiction, but I quietly cheer on those who venture forth to do so.

Yeah, I do write and have written a lot online, but I don't think of that as the same thing even as non-fiction.

I just see so many people who want to write fiction, although it's probably weighted by the people with whom I associate.

Junie sounds a bit like a bully, doesn't she? :-) I'm reading backwards and saw that she chased Loki, too.

Yeah, she is. I planned to call the vet today, but things happened and I've moved that to Wednesday.
