05:42 pm: Leaves Falling
We're not getting as many colored leaves this year -- they're mostly turning brown and falling. However, when they get blown across the porch, Loki is thrilled. I can tell he'd like to catch them.

Spirit can't bring herself to come in the kitchen now, so I brought the wet food plate out to under the end table when it was down to a third and also brought her a little pyrex cup of water with Rescue Remedy in it. Now she's asleep on the top of the back of the recliner.

I'm doing sheets, as usual, and this week my wrist is well enough to actually get the fitted sheets in the space between the platform bed and the mattress.

I started reading a memoir last night. An author helped write it, and I'm still having problems with some lack of consistency and the self-presentation. I ended up in bed for two more hours today because I kept thinking about it when I woke up and then went back to sleep again. You'll hear about all the book in a few days.

Did the vet think that maybe Spirit's blindness is part of the reason she won't go into some rooms anymore? I'm just curious. I know our Reggie got to where he would only go to a few set places in the house once he got cataracts that affected his eyesight. Thank goodness she's eating and drinking, though, always a good sign. Good news on your wrist!

I'm sure that's it. She moves her head around, ranging to see what she can see before she goes anywhere. I've heard that cats do better when they're actually blind, rather than just on the way, but I don't know how that works.

Yeah, I see a PA in ortho on Wednesday, probably for a steroid shot.

Glad to hear your wrist is getting better.
Not so good that Spirit won't go into the kitchen. Maybe just letting her stay and eat where she wants to and will do it is simply the way to go.

The vet called back and we talked. She called a prescription for buspar (the human drug for OCD) in to the grocery store and I'll get it tomorrow. This is the med that made Spirit come out of her shell many years ago and it might work again in this situation.

I've been giving her food and water under one of the end tables by the recliner. There isn't enough room for the other two to actually get between the floor and the bottom shelf of those, while she can. It looks like she's using the litterbox when the other two are in bed with me.
