I thought the new seasons of L&O, Medium, and Numbers all started well. Modern Family did a good job of showing us the characters and how they're related -- I'll have to see how it goes on with plots (it would have been the fourth thing to watch at the same time when it originally aired so I watched the repeat later in the week). I have Monk and Psych to watch tonight.
The WashPost has a random column called Metropolist where people send in bits of info about places in the DC area that don't exist anymore and talk about how they liked them. Yesterday was again about Woodies (Woodward and Lothrop) downtown, which really was a wonderful store when we first moved here. One of the bits was about their teen board and it reminded me of a program at Garfinkel's, also a long-gone department store. My parents were really worried that I wasn't buying makeup and girly clothes, so they signed me up for this program that not only taught you how to dress and put on makeup, but how to walk a runway. I was pretty sure that I wasn't going, but then my best friend's parents offered the program to her (under persuasion from my folks) and she wanted to go (she was a cheerleader, anyway). So I went, but I didn't like it, and never wore makeup other than theatre or the three years I consulted.
