07:20 pm: Inadvertant Nap
I just went to the recliner about an hour ago to put my feet up, but I went right to sleep. Today I had a lot of mailings to do, enough to take the collapsible crate, and then got the last pieces of fabric for the winter pants, and used a coupon to eat at Captain D's.

I couldn't get Loki out from behind the washer & dryer (I'm pretty sure that's where he was) so far today, although when there was a racket in the kitchen at 6am, he was behind the recliner by the time I got out here. I don't think either of them ate any of the wet food or snackies, so I'll have to try harder to get them out tomorrow. The dry food disappeared overnight and that probably wasn't Spirit.

I gave Junie her eyedrops today and she probably hates me for that.

My first mortgage coupon came and I set it up to pay from my credit union online banking and wasn't surprised they already had the info for Bank of America Mortgage Servicing. My closing papers said they only keep about 30% of the loans they originate, though, so maybe I'll get someone else. Also in the mail, a form to fill out about being on a jury. I explained that I can't do steps or sit up a long time or walk very far, so I probably can't be on a jury.

Sounds like the new kitties are very slowly settling in. Did it take a while for the others to get used to new surroundings? I hope Spirit and Junie will get to be better friends and let you sleep at night. Doesn't sound like a lot of fun to miss out on so much sleep because the kitties have cat fights.
Take good care,
Doris

I got Loki out and closed the door too the utility room, so he's been out, if unhappy. Spirit kept me awake last night, too. She's clearly upset that they're taking her space, but they're getting more used to it.

Kedgie didn't unhide for a week; all we saw were her eyes. My partner saw her out in the open for one meal. Then, at the next feeding, I saw her start to run back into hiding, called her name, and she stopped. That was it for her.

When we moved into this house, BT was very upset and hid for a week too. Some cats are just like that.

Well, everybody ate wet food from the dish on the kitchen floor this morning, while I sat in the recliner, so I hope that continues.

In my county, you are supposed to get a doctor's note if you are medically unable to serve. However, all you really have to do is call up the court secretary and she takes care of it for you. What does your form say?

"Include reason in writing." Of course, I actually wrote, so they may have to call me. Now, we do have a little cart at the courthouse to move people around who can't walk far, but I can't sit up straight for very long and I doubt they have recliners in the courtroom. There's no stairs at the entrance to the courthouse, but I don't know about inside or the rooms.

Glad to see that life with the new kitties proceeds apace. I'm sorry you have to pass on jury duty, but most people hate it anyway. It can be pretty tough emotionally, depending on the case. You probably don't need the stress, even if you could manage physcially. I was in the jury pool for the Mall of America killing (they found 14 before they got to me, thank goodness) and the accused spent the entire day searching our faces. We had to complete dozens of pages of questionaires with an amazing array of items. It was intense. The poor people who were selected were sequestered, too and that almost never happens around here. I suspect it was because the tv was running video of the crime captured by security cameras. I suspect that I saw the footage before they did. My youngest daughter just received a summons. They have agreed to defer her service until summer break, due to her school schedule.

I always wanted to be on a jury when I was well, but I lived in a county where people mostly filled their service and they never asked me. Now that I have time and live in a city where people don't want to do jury duty, I'm pretty sure they're not set up for my disabilities.
