05:27 pm: Kitties in Quarantine
This is the traditional way to move new cats in, so Loki and Junie B are in the guest bathroom. I considered not taking them because Loki is massively matted (I've done some googling to find places that groom cats), but I was worried that since she had to get rid of them, she might do something drastic. She gave me all the bills in her wallet to help with the grooming. So once I find a place that will de-mat him, I have to have help to get him there. They're both overweight -- Junie is probably 16 pounds or so -- but Loki probably weighs about 25 pounds. I didn't realize he weighed so much until I lifted and carried him to the guest bath. I was thinking the mats took up more of the space. They'll both be getting less to eat than they did.

They're both very interested in me -- want to be petted, rub their heads on my hands -- and Loki has eyes and whiskers like Shiva. He even licks my wrist and purrs, although his purr is much deeper. Junie wants more reassurance, but comes to be petted.

Spirit wouldn't come out or then near me until about midnight and she woke me up every hour until 11am when I went and checked on the new kitties and then back to bed. I turned the alarm off and slept until 2pm while Spirit left me alone.

I'm not washing/changing sheets today. I know that's a shock, but there's a reason. During the week, I didn't write anything on the grocery list for tomorrow and there wasn't anything in the circular I needed, so I don't need to do grocery shopping tomorrow. With the rules about showering, I can't shower until tomorrow, and it would be nice to be mostly not-sweaty when I go to bed in clean sheets. So I'm washing cat blankies today and will do the sheets tomorrow.

Congratulations Marilee to the new members of the household, and congratulations Loki and Junie to finding a great home!
It sounds as if they've been subjected to less-than-knowledgeable owners :-(

Looking forward to further reports!

Yes, I think they were a bit neglected in their former home. Thanks!
