06:41 pm: Head-On
This German movie has a couple meet in a psych unit after they've both tried to kill themselves. The much-younger woman, Sibel, asks Cahit to marry her so she can get away from her parents and their Turkish rules. Cahit is also Turkish, but since he's a guy, his rules are not so firm. (I seem to be getting a lot of this kind of thing lately.)

She talks him into getting married, telling him that they don't have to actually act married -- she wants to be able to fuck lots of men. And indeed, both of them have lots of sex, in many positions and showing all genitals. They turn out to love each other, but not at the same time, and violence erupts at the null times. The ending makes sense, but is not what you might expect. This is rated R, which really surprised me.

This sounds interesting in a strange sort of way.
Was the producer/director Turkish by any chance? I'm asking out of curiosity because Germany has a pretty substantial Turkish minority by now, many second generation.

No, German, and I had to look it up at Netflix to find that out because IMDB doesn't have it at all. However, the writer-director, Fatih Akin, seems to have at least a partial Turkish name.

That would explain it at least partially.
We've watched several German language movies over the last few months and just about all of them either had a Turkish story and Turkish actors to go with it or Turkish writers/directors. Quite interesting.
