02:28 pm: Ice Princess
When this DVD showed up in the mail, I was surprised. It's rated G and the blurb said it was a variation on "ugly duckling," and I'm not sure why I'd pick that. But I wanted some background movie while I worked on the new cat blankie last night and I watched it.

A physics geek finds out she might get a scholarship for Harvard if she does a good enough presentation. She likes skating on the home pond and decides to figure out the physics of skating at the local rink. She's dissed by the skaters and their parents, but then as they get to know her, and she coaches them with what she's learned about the physics of skating, they start liking each other. It's actually a nice little movie with more complications than you'd expect from the blurb.

I'm glad it's nice, because it's somewhere in my queue, and I have no idea why I put it there if not you, since about a third of what I get from Netflix is something you've talked about.

And do you like them? I'd feel bad if you got them because I talked about them and then you don't like them. Of course, you'd probably stop putting them in your queue then.

You're better than Netflix's algorithm at finding things I'll like. : )

Oh, yeah, I completely ignore that. So far, they haven't recommended anything I think I'd like.

Ice Princess was equated with the Ugly Duckling? Hmm, I guess if you stretch the concept and look at it sideways.... LOL I guess I took it more from the rebel teenager point of view, doing what was right for her, not what her control freak mother wanted. We've watched it several times on the Disney channel, since my dd is of the age group it was aimed at.

Yeah, I debated talking about the mother who doesn't appear to love her. This happened to me with my father -- he never saw me perform because he didn't like "artsy-fartsy" things and he forbid my mother and brother to see me perform. He died with that belief. This is the second blurb recently that wasn't really very accurate. I wonder who does these.
