08:29 pm: My Brain
I saw the neurologist today and she said I can line her tests up with whichever I want, but other than that, all we could really say is that nothing has happened yet and we won't know if the med worked until either I have another event or it's been a long time and I haven't had one. And if I have one and more and we get to the top dosage of the depakote, the next solution is Botox injections!

Kaiser Penderbrook is near the closest Circuit City so I went to see if, this late, they'd still have DVD/VCRs, and they do, but they're all out of the box, no manuals, no cords, and only 10% off which isn't enough value for me. I also looked for a USB 2.0 hub and they didn't have any. So I need to go ahead and order that.

I took I-66 out to the far end of Greater Manassas (the area that isn't Manassas, but likes to call itself that) to have dinner at Uno's because I had a coupon. I had lemon basil salmon, mostly-mashed-then-baked potatoes, steamed broccoli, and then a mini apple crumble. All very good. I stopped at the PetSmart on the way home to get more Turboscratcher refills. I thought I had one but I don't, and the one in there was getting pretty raggedy.

When I got home, before I took my coat off, I took one of the new refills and the Turboscratcher out on the porch (lots of cardboard dust when it's taken out) and put in the new refill and brought it back in. By the time I'd put the old refill in the cardboard recycling box, Spirit and Shiva were both working on the Scratchy Thingie from different sides.

I haven't seen pinkball in a couple of days and I've looked the reasonable places other than under the bed. Spirit "lost" the bigger ball yesterday, too, so I'll have a go at taking the drawer out and seeing if they're under there. I'm doing laundry and otherwise having a quiet night.

Hang in there, girlfriend! We need you.

This neurologist thinks the events are migraines without headaches, so it's probably not dangerous, just really annoying. I guess we'll find out, if the medicine works.

Yeah, if it had been dropped, say, to 70%, well, I can buy cables and download the manual and that would be fine. But this was just not a good enough deal. The reason I'm keeping it in the back of my mind is that apparently Comcast plans to go all digital some point after the broadcasters do. They'll give me a free box, but I'd have to pay for another, and I need two (the VCR/DVD I have has a digital tuner, but the VCR and TV don't). The other VCR is very old and very slow so I'm thinking I might get another

But I'm also keeping in my mind all the "no signal" bits that always turn up just at important parts of shows, so if I have to watch everything digital, maybe I should cancel cable and watch shows a season at a time on DVD.

Let's hope the neurologist is correct about the migraines. Annoying is better than some alternatives.
Do you cats have oodles of toys, too? My indoor dog does and I find them in the strangest places. He has a few favorites that he lugs around everywhere but the rest he can take or leave.

They don't have that many toys because Giorgio used to eat everything that was polyester. The day he died, I sat here and cried and ordered toys from PetSmart, but they didn't seem to care. I had to order a new Mr. Gator recently (Shiva likes the catnip; Spirit had literally disembowelled him) and also ordered these little glitter pom balls and Spirit really likes these. But they're small enough to hide.

I found the bigger glitterpom, but pinkball is still gone. I have five others and I'm very close to giving her one of those to play with. I think she likes them because they're easier to see with the reflected light from the glitter, and because she can smell them. She carries them in her mouth and so when she's near one, she'll sniff around to find it.
