08:45 pm: Army of Women
I joined the Army of Women yesterday. They're recruiting women for potential research about breast cancer. They need women who don't have breast cancer as well as those who do. When you sign up, you get emails about potential research/trials, and you can opt in if you want. (Then they check your suitability, which is where my list of things wrong will probably dump me.) It's all your choice -- if you don't want to work with one of the research programs or medical trials, you don't. But you'll never know if there's something you could help with and want to do unless you sign up.

The only exciting thing that happened today was that the Peapod order came. They only had 65 of the 75 cans of cat food I ordered, but that's fine. I had to pull a chair into the kitchen to put them all away. The driver, who comes most often, asked what I was cooking when he came in, because he was hungry and it smelled good, but it was a frozen meal -- Swedish meatballs and noodles -- and I'd already finished. I felt sorry for him. He noticed the ramp and was very appreciative.

Thank you for signing up. (Wrong continent for me.)

My mother survived breast cancer, a friend of mine recently died of it. It's way too close for comfort.

Yeah, my mother died of what turns out to be the "young" strain, which my cousin also had, so I'm old enough to not have that as risk. I do take hormone replacement therapy and have a lot of other things wrong that put me at risk. But I haven't had it, which may make me a good volunteer for research.
