12:43 pm: Concrete!
It's not quite concrete yet, but it's all formed and the guys are re-smoothing it every now and then. I can't believe I got up at 6:30am and am still awake. We'll see how long that lasts! I'm staying home today, obviously, and have already done laundry. Spirit and Shiva were particularly scared during the sledgehammer phase of preparation, but they're both back out now, if edgy.

Two things I forgot to mention yesterday:

Yesterday was Constitution Day -- the day the Constitution was signed -- and Xopher found a pledge that I'd like to say instead of the flag one:

"I pledge allegiance to the Constitution of the United States of America, and to the republic which it established: one nation from many peoples, promising liberty and justice for all."

And on Eureka on Tuesday, they have town voting and when the sheriff is aghast at paper ballots in such a technological town, his deputy, Jo, says: "Digital voting machines are way too easy to tamper with." Yeah!

That's a much better pledge, I agree.
