The Return of the King

This was a four-hour, two-disc movie, so I watched the first half on Thursday night and the second half last night. It was, like the others, rather splendrous and reasonably close to the book. The only thing that really rang false to me was Shelob. I remember her being not just giant, but swollen and putrid. This was just a really big spider, like the really big eagles, and there wasn't any pus when she got stabbed. In any case, everybody else has probably already seen this, but I do think it's a good movie as long as you don't want it to be word/scene-perfect to the book.


(I had a few moments at the end wishing people who hurt a lot now could go into the West, but I haven't saved Man like Frodo.)
