06:58 pm: The House Of Flying Daggers
This was a fairytale with special effects. The plot was pretty negligible, but there was beautiful music, dance, costumes, settings, videography, and symbolism. That's what makes it worth watching.

We bought the DVD just so we could watch the bean dance over and over again.

I love the film and I love his work!

Could, and have, sat mesmerised for hours.

'Hero' is wonderful too - a treatise on colour!

His early stuff is more narrative based, with a wonderful sure and steady slow unfolding. David's favourite is his first - 'Red Sorghum', but I love 'Raise The Red Lantern', which is set in the house of the concubines/wives of the King, and who gets special treatment for being 'visited'.
