My Brief Day and Weather

I wasn't going to go out today, but I forgot to get cat food yesterday. I used to keep the pouches on the counter, but the cans are down with the soup cans and I just didn't look to see how many I had. As long as I had to go to the grocery, I mailed a couple of things. The main road two blocks north of us (our only paved way in and out from the development) is being scraped for new pavement, so there's only one lane at a time and you should have seen the people turning around to go at least 10 minutes longer rather than waiting a few minutes. They're storing the equipment on the circle leading into our development, which makes sense. There's plenty of room there and the road they're working on is a narrow two-lane road. In fact, it's so narrow that I emailed the city today to get them to ask some homeowners to cut their bushes back. They're out into the road about six inches, which means dodging into the other lane and some people are polite about it and some aren't.

Our heat spell earlier this week killed two men -- one out mowing and one inside without AC or a fan. During the storm there were two home fires as well as lots of trees down and some flooding. There was a teenager hit by lightning, but she was just shocked -- she was in a horse barn and the lightning came down the lightning rod, in her hand, out her other elbow into the hay which it started to burn. They got all the horses out, but the barn is gone. Then out in Iowa, a boy scout camp lost four teens to a tornado. Weather is definitely not on our side.
