08:18 pm: The Heat Has Broken!
The news said the last time we had a June with four 95F+ days in a row was 1925. We'll get that in August without any records (I hope), but it's nice to be back to the high 80s without so much humidity.

I had to separate Shiva from Spirit again -- I don't know why he wants to grab her. I took the trash and recycling out and then got groceries. I just spent way too much time looking at a friend's jewelry website. I have some earrings from her that I love.

I expect this to be a quiet week, which is nice.

Shiva and Spirit

(Link)
I had one friend have one of his battling cats take a piece of a treat out of the mouth of the other one. With his teeth. No hilarity ensued, in fact there were some minor injuries and much irritation on the parts of the people.

Good luck. I hope our cooler air (but not as many storms) go your way.

Ack! I don't think we'll have that problem here, but I wish he'd stop grabbing at her!

I am glad your heat has broken, and I'm impressed with your ability to deal with the high 80s. The older I get, the less I like heat. Here in Chicago, we can look forward to some massive discomfort within the next five weeks. Heat, humidity, the whole miserable bundle. Stay as cool as you can! (And good luck with imposing a Pax Romana on the cats.)

I don't stay out long, and I make sure I have something to drink. The cats cuddle most of the time, but for some reason, when I go to bed, Shiva wants to catch Spirit.

One of the male mourning doves is moving from female to female as they peck him away. He's in full courting mode.

How...romantically tragicomic. Are these doves outside your place, or within gilded cages in your home?

Because these are condos, my birdfeeder (and fountain) are on my ground-level balcony, so the doves are technically on my place. The cats and I like watching them and the squirrels. During courting season, the male doves always chase the female doves and try to peck them on the neck. The female doves frequently drive them off with return pecks. However, they're usually already paired, this is just courting. This big guy hasn't been able to have a mate for a couple of years.

On the sidewalk on the other side of the street/parking lot, two young boys are spraying skim milk on each other instead of drinking it. I'm glad Jesus, who has spina bifida and uses a wheelchair, has a friend -- they go to the same center for the developmentally delayed -- but I'm not sure his mom is going to appreciate cleaning him and the wheelchair.
