New New Refrigerator

Well, I've had a lot of work and was so pleased because Peapod is bringing food today, when I found a problem and am getting a new refrigerator delivered tomorrow.

So:

Sunday I ordered the fridge and started planning how to move things out that will be kept, like Tupperwares of whole grains and the tea pitcher.

Monday I started moving things, plus I remeasured the entries just to be sure. I have a cabinet that sticks out into the kitchen entrance by four inches, which is fine for me and the cats, but only allows one inch for the fridge. I pulled the table with the heating pad out (put moving things on it) and put that in the dining room and moved the cabinet beyond the door edge.

Tuesday I saw the nephrologist who says I'm "stable." Which is true, but I'm stable in a worse spot than a while. He reminded me this will happen as I get older.

Wednesday the new fridge came at 8:30am and the hauling guy says he can't take dead food. I showed him how much was in there and he managed to wrap the power cord tautly around the handles and took it out that way. I started putting things back in, moved the cabinet, and put the heating pad table back.

Today, I was getting ice cubes from the freezer and they were a bit wet. I looked around and the seal at the top isn't in properly. I looked at the other seals and saw how it should go and put it in there. It keeps coming out and I called about repair. I can get repair on Saturday, but a new refrigerator tomorrow.

So I've got a call in to Peapod and I know they regularly charge for drops, $50, but even if I can't get them to void it, it'll be better than putting food in tonight and taking it out in the morning and then putting it back in. I will have to take stuff out starting soon.

I Recommend Peapod

I explained what had happened, that I didn't want to put new food in a freezer that wasn't working, and she immediately offered to see if they could waive the $50, and they have! They don't have a space to put the delivery in until Sunday, but at this point, I think I'll just get enough food brought in for a couple days -- maybe the Thai or Chinese that I really like. Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday are supposed to be 80s (82 on Monday!), assuming the most local station is right, and it mostly is, since wunderground here is about a mile from me.

I'm still going to have to take stuff out of the current fridge except the ice cubes and the tea pitcher. I can grab those out when I see the truck and it won't kill me to pay an extra 24 hours (at the most) of power. The yellow thing with the fridge says it'll cost me $51 a year, although it would be too much trouble to set up to check that out.

I don't know if Peapod is near you, but I can't always get my food, so the small increase in cost isn't that bad.
