Sleeping Way Too Long

I was still online at 6am today, then read a small bit of a newspaper and went to bed to read the bookgroup book. My hands hurt like crazy and it's hard to hold a trade paperback, so I came out here to read in the recliner, but only for an hour because I kept falling asleep. It was 7am so I set the alarm for 1pm and went right to sleep. I woke up an appropriate time through to take another batch of narcotics and didn't wake up again until 7pm. The narcotics probably caused part of that, but I do seem to be more sleepy than usual.

I haven't done much today -- read the front pages of today's paper and put it under the pile where Friday's paper is on the top, went to get two days of mail, most of which went to the mixed paper recycling bin, a bit went to the shred binder clip, I logged the books into my bookbase, and I got a letter and form from the private disability. I haven't had to do this in a while, but the part that I fill out is still trying to cheat me. One section, for example, asks me what kind of work I'm doing. There's nothing to mark that says I'm not working. Plus, my primary doctor has to do it, and she won't be doing things like this now, since she's only on another week, and I haven't heard if they have a new doctor yet. I'm going to have to call and tell them that.

I thought this morning that maybe the reason Spirit didn't use the litterbox today (yesterday was a small bit of poop and a medium-size clump) was because I'd accidentally overfilled the box (it has a line on the inside) and just left it. So I pulled out litter until the top was at the line and took that litter to the big kitties box. It'll be hard for me to scoop for a few days, but they'll like it. When I got back out here, Spirit was standing up in her bed looking at the box and then turned around and laid down. She's drinking regularly, but I'd like to see more poop.

I woke up with lots of snot today and although I haven't had to blow my nose for a while, I can feel it going down my throat. I don't think I can increase my drinking, so it will just have to work itself out.

Rule 34 by Charles Stross

I actually finished this Sunday night, but I've been far behind so many other things that I didn't have time to post about it.

It has some of the same characters, places, and organizations that Halting State had, but it's an entirely different book. A lot of homicides happen all over the world within about two hours of each. Who could do that? There are lots of ideas (and lots of people who are worried) and when the inspectors interview people, the plot gets more and more convoluted. The ending is not entirely the end. A character that gradually becomes more involved is left ready to take over.

You need to read this carefully, even if you have to go back and read part again. I liked it a lot.
