09:33 pm: New BP Machine

Last night I read the paper and got to bed to read at 3am, reading until 8am. I decided I could manage to get up at 2pm, just six hours, because I had so many extra earlier. Nooooo, I ended up sleeping until 4pm. Peapod delivers between 4:30-9:30pm tomorrow so I should get up earlier.

I'd planned to use the Ruby Tuesday coupon tomorrow, but we're going to have 2-3 inches of rain during the day which is way too wet to go out in if I don't have to. The coupon is okay until the 17th, so no big deal.

I took the trash and recycling out today and went to the grocery store to get Loki a toy. I'd planned to get a Purina toy because that's what Junie (and Loki) likes so well. However, the grocery has changed all the toys to their own brand. I stood there for a bit trying to decide if I'd get one there or go to Petsmart and then realized that at $3, I should just try one from there. And then I tried the self checkout and boy was I an idiot using it. I even had one woman come over to tell me which part of the screen to push.

My BP machine died last night. I'm pretty sure it's the part of the machine that fills up with air because the pitch isn't changing right (I can't remember the name for that changing of pitch when the size/pressure changes -- I think it starts with D) and there's only a five-year warranty. I've had this one for 12 years. I like the machine, but of course, they don't make the exact same kind anymore, so I had to sort through before I bought.

In yesterday's WashPost Health & Science section, one article mentions the problems with water pollution and how the budget cuts will make the pollution worse and another article proposes flushing unused/expired meds down the toilet. I wrote them a letter that I don't expect them to publish, but it would help for the person who wanted to put pills in toilets to know how to dispose of them properly.

Obama meets the Australian PM with sarcasm on vegemite. (I don't blame him.)
