09:13 pm: More Word Problems

Last night I read the paper and did some household things before I went to bed at 1:30am to read. I realized as I was giving Junie her night pill that it was the last one and I hadn't made up the next batch. I decided that since I would certainly need to get up to use the bathroom, I could make them then. When I did get up, there was my robe on the floor with a Junie-size lump under it. She came out when I headed that way, so I got my robe to wear to the workroom. I stopped reading at 5am and set the alarm for 1pm. I had the hot/cold bit, but also had really big left shoulder pain. I had a lot of pain turning on that side. I took some acetaminophen, but I couldn't take any narcotics at that point. I woke up at 1pm and laid there for 35 minutes trying to decide what to do about the pain and grocery shopping and cat blankies and .... In the end, I decided to go ahead with the grocery shopping and got up to go.

In this week's grocery flyer, they had a deal where if you buy six of something, you got a free gallon of milk. I didn't want the things, but I thought, oh, I wish I could have the milk, but it has too... much.... protein. Hmmm. I don't know why it took me so long to think of this. I have trouble getting the right amount of protein almost every day, I love skim milk, so I can use the milk for protein. It was raining on the way home so I was pretty soaked after getting things in and Loki was playing with one of those heat-sealed plastic things that make food safe. He was very happy.

I came over to sign on and start what I do and about half an hour in, I had that problem I haven't had for a while. I knew what the words meant, but I couldn't figure out what the sentences meant. I went to bed for a while, with Loki and Junie joining me, and then tried reading a book cover and that was fine. So now I'm back out here.

Yesterday's WashPost Movies section had a review of The Adjustment Bureau which only had about one paragraph about the movie (based on PKD's "Adjustment Team"). Most of the review is about PKD and his writing and other movies, and has comments by real SF people. I really liked the first paragraph of the review:

Philip K. Dick isn't really Hollywood's favorite dead author. It only seems that way.
