More (Pill)Pocket Distress

After I was offline last night, I read the paper, made the grocery list for Monday, and then watched a DVD. I thought I'd finished the beaded piece that I was making, but when I put it on, I realized I still need to work in the end of the last piece of fireline I used. I'll finish that tonight.

I went to bed at midnight to read and kept sleeping again. I put the book away and decided that since I was going to sleep earlier than 4am, if I woke up before noon, I could stay in bed and read. I also realized that I was going to finish the story I'd been reading, but then I had to transfer to the bookgroup book for next Saturday. Indeed, I woke up at 10:45am and finished the story and then started the book. I could hear the 11am food dispenser, but nobody left to have any. A fair amount of it was gone when I looked a couple hours later. Then the cats looked up actively so I lifted my head to see what it was, and of course, it was the alarm. I turned it off and started getting up.

Junie bit on her (pill)pocket and got the pill and spit it out. Loki got his snackie and went to smell the (pill)pocket and backed off. I'm going to only make three days-worth today, and if that doesn't work, I may leave the container a bit open (I'll have to put it in a drawer then) so the pill doesn't melt into the pocket.

I've skimmed the front pages of the paper, as usual, and am appalled at what the WashPost did today. A sheet folded over the front page of the A section had a sports person on it and when I pulled that whole sheet off, it was an ad for a bank. I can't believe they'd do that to the front page.

Last night I was trying to think how close I could get to the meal plan when I thought of something. When I got up, I checked it. Everybody has to have at least 50gr of protein a day to keep their bodies working. I'm supposed to have no more than 50gr a day because I'm spilling protein which means my kidneys aren't working very well. I can go a gram or so on either side, but 50gr is what I'm to aim at. She told me that one ounce is seven grams, and that each ounce is a serving. She gave me one ounce for breakfast and then two each for lunch and dinner. That's 35gr. She even writes on the front "5oz," which is 35gr of protein. It's a good thing I don't have to see her again.

I mentioned how upset so many people are that Old Town will get a sex shop. In fact, a lot of them are acting as if it's a porn shop, which it isn't. The Council meeting thise week had more people wanting it gone than to stay. People kept saying that crime and sexual assaults would go up, which is really unlikely because there are other shops like that -- just not in Old Town (one of them also has lingerie and shoes and so forth in male sizes). There isn't any legal way to get the shop out unless they become a "disturbance" and I suppose people could cause that.

The New Lost City Ramblers, The Greenbriar Boys

This is two of Pete Seegar's TV shows called "Rainbow Quest." The New Lost City Ramblers had Pete's brother in it, whose singing wasn't that good, but he was a marvelous autoharp player. That group was raw in the pieces they played, and Pete would play with them sometimes, too (he also plays alone at the start). YouTube has a copy of them playing "Soldier and the Lady" and a copy of them playing "Man of Constant Sorrow" from this show/DVD.

The Greenbriar Boys were more polished and more professional. They also played with Pete, who said that was the purpose of the show -- to learn each other's pieces. YouTube doesn't have any copies of the show, but there's other works of theirs around.

I loved the DVD, but the cats were a little worried that I harmonized.
