Rain As Wrapper

It's raining and I feel a little disconnected today; I hurt a lot. I was going to do taxes, but I moved that to tomorrow. I have something else on today's list that I can't read. It wasn't something I put on when I made the week's list, I added it later. I think the first word is "check," but I have no idea what the second word is. There's a good chance I'll nap.

From These Ashes: The Complete Short SF of Fredric Brown edited by Ben Yalow

This is from NESFA and is their usual good product. There's 693 pages so I've been reading it when other books end before it's time to sleep and so forth.

The stories are arranged chronologically from 1941 to 1965 and there's an introduction by Barry N. Malzberg.

A lot of his stories are set in his future and a surprising number of them have some accuracy. There's a fair amount of consistency (New Albuquerque is on Mars whenever it's mentioned), and a lot of the stories are very short. Near the end, they were single pages and I thought maybe they were for a particular magazine, but no -- I checked in the ISFDB.

This is kind of a long book for people who don't normally read shorts, but they might like it anyway. I think people who read shorts would definitely like it.
