Arguments Cattious

My fault. Spirit is sitting on the computer near me and Junie was asking to be petted on the other side of me and I picked her up. She wanted to go on the computer table above Spirit and Spirit smacked at her and they yelled at each other. I don't actually care if they yell, it's hurting each other and keeping each other from places they should go that I care about.

I hurt like crazy today, every muscle and joint, and I don't think it's just that I sat up a lot on Friday & Saturday. And last night, I was so tired at 11pm that I had a VCR watch the news and I napped in the recliner for three hours.

I'm washing sheets, of course, and I plan to eat soon.

I actually watched this Thursday night and forgot to post about it since.

This is a nice little film set in the UK. A widower and his two sons settle into a new development and the younger son, Damian, takes the moving boxes and makes a house between the development fence and the rail line. One day he goes out and his house is smushed by a heavy bag full of pounds. He shows it to his older brother, Anthony, who suddenly has visions of things he can buy. Damian has visions of saints who show him where to give it away. He starts giving the money away, including 1000 pounds to a charity that comes to their school.

The charity runner is suspicious and talks to their dad. The two of them fall into bed as well as realizing that the pounds have only a few days to be changed into Euros. Where did the money come from? Clearly off a train, but more specifically? This is a very cute film and I enjoyed it.

Fallen Dragon by Peter Hamilton

This was our bookgroup book this month and only one of us liked it. I'd read his first trilogy and nothing else by him since because of how awful those were. This was slightly better, but I won't read more.

The father of a teenager on a colony planet has his father buy him a girlfriend to try and get him to be the kind of guy he wants. When the boy finds out she's been bought, even though she says she got to really love him, he takes off for Earth to become a soldier. It turns out being a space soldier is not nearly as fun as he expected and because he doesn't have any money, he can't advance. He thinks he found some kind of a treasure on the next planet they steal from and rounds up other soldiers to help him (and get a part of it). But the planet has a pretty good resistance and when he gets to the place where he thinks the treasure is, it's not what he thought, and many of his group die.
