Happy Baby!

Remember the baby shower I gave at last month's bookgroup? Well, the baby came last night! A girl, 9 pounds, 11 ounces! So there was decoration and another cake and then the happy grandparents headed off to see her.

Yesterday I posted about finding the card of Luke's cleaning lady on his door and she called me today, during bookgroup, and asked if he was home yet because she'd called a lot. I told her he'd been hurt badly and I didn't know when he'd be home and he'd call her when he was ready for a condo-cleaning. Then she asked me if he was at our hospital and I didn't think fast enough to excuse myself. She probably called him there. Grump. I plan to see him tomorrow, assuming he's still there.

And now I'm really sleepy so as soon as I put up the book review, I'm taking a nap.

Storm Front by Jim Butcher

This is the first of the Dresden Files books. Harry Dresden is a wizard who works for the police and occasionally other people. The story blends two of those cases into one with a lot of paranormal happenings. I was the only one who didn't like this, and part of it is that I have trouble suspending disbelief with paranormal things. I'd be reading and my mind would say "Yeah, right." Then there were the infodumps, the clunky writing, and the Marty Stu. Every night I thought that if I didn't have to read it for bookgroup, I could stop right then and not care what happened. I can't recommend it, but lots of people like these and the short TV series, so you might like it.
