02:54 pm: Value of a Person
The WashPost has an occasional column called the Fine Print and in yesterday's, we learn that Iraqi people and cars have the same value. A commander may pay $2,500 for compensation for a dead Iraqi or a dead car (both killed by US troops). Their economy is not as high as ours, but that's still a pittance for a person.

I've picked the painter and will be trying to schedule the whole moving/laminate/painting/moving to-do today.

Spirit frequently comes in the evening to sit between my legs in the recliner, but last night, she burrowed between the nightgown and robe and curled up in the same place -- just with cover over her.

05:35 pm: Planet Earth Disk 2
This is the second disk in the BBC series and the chapters were Caves, Deserts, and Ice Worlds. As before, I liked the Diaries, aka Making Of, better than the actual episodes. The Caves showed a lot of beautiful formations that I never saw in the local caves, as well as interesting critters. The Deserts had a fascinating show of locusts. The Ice Worlds concentrated on penguins in the south and polar bears in the north; the polare bears were cause for environmental warning. Beautiful photography, and Attenborough still say words in strange ways.
