02:37 pm: Suburban Gods - SFBC omnibus of How Like a God and The Doors of Life and Death
This is an interesting book on how supernatural powers are not always the best thing. It didn't surprise me that Brenda used her Christian background in the book, but I was startled by the "altar call" at the end. You rarely see non-Christian genre books asking a character to take god into their heart.

There's good plot development, plenty of turns and twists, and some novel solutions. There are also enough factual errors that I briefly considered it was placed in a very close alternative time line. It says Atlantis was the first shuttle, but it was really Columbia. A character says her handmade birchbark canoe leaks because it's not hunting season and she couldn't get sinew. I have a Native American friend who owns a trading post and you can get sinew from her year-round. This is true of other NA stores.

All in all, I enjoyed it, until I got to the accepting god part.
