I found out about this yearly anthology when a Usenet friend had a story published in it. Youmans collects the best of the stories in the lesser-known publications for each year. I liked Deborah's "Coming Home," but the two I liked best are:
1. "Trouble Leaves a Scent Trail" by Constance Cooper, originally published in Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine #17. A wonderful detective story set on a world with no humans.
2. "By the Light of Tomorrow's Sun" by Holly Phillips, originally published in her collection In the Palace of Repose. A gripping story of denial and loss in a misty port on the edge of worlds.
