07:07 pm: Blowing in the Wind
Just about everything is blowing in the wind today -- apparently some of the trees out back have fallen over. We have 45mph gusts and will through tomorrow afternoon. Then Wednesday, it might snow. O boy.

Lucilla came today and cleaned and brought her vacuum cleaner. It's a Eureka without a bag, and her purpose was to try to get some of the fur off my recliner. She got a giant cat-fur-ball in the cup, but there's still fur stuck in the chenille. Mark told me not to buy chenille fabric for the recliner, and today, Lucilla told me not to buy it for the next one. I'm not nearly as worried about the fur in it as they are.

I took a new cat picture last night:

They're so cute!

Awwww. Shiva's in a nursing-mother position.

Our cats just won't heap up like that. Even the ones that like each other. It's very sad.

Well, it does take some nudging. Shiva was originally with his butt where it is, but his head at the left. Spirit came and stepped into that corner and he moved a bit for her. Then Giorgio came and tried to sit behind Spirit (he likes corners), but she wouldn't move, so he squeezed in front of her and then Shiva moved over straight to make room for him. Spirit and Giorgio, like all orientals, require more heat than most cats and they usually move into the chair with Shiva when the heating pad in the kitchen doesn't overbalance the cold from the window. Although sometimes they just go sleep in the bed.

Cute Overload linked to a fascinating blog today: Daily Coyote. Start from the bottom up -- there's a new picture every day, although it's five months behind.

I suspect that the key here is the Orientality of two of the three.

If a space that small were occupied by one of our cats, the others would just go find somewhere else. So very sad. They do lounge companionably on the waterbed a decorous ten inches apart, though, and that's cute in its own way.

Thanks for the Charlie link -- somebody sent it to me a couple of days ago. I particularly like the entry called "The Cat Should be Canonized," where the cat is curled up sleeping and the (still fairly small) coyote pup is wriggling around all over and finally drapes a huge front paw over the cat's head.

Yes, I think Eli was very good with Charlie. Probably could have killed him if he wanted to.

Shiva was not familiar with the idea, either, and never initiates, but he used to be a single cat.
