Coyote Rising by Allen M. Steele

This is the sequel to Coyote which I reviewed recently. The first book sets up the trip for the democratic-minded folk to the moon Coyote and the hardships of their life.

In this book, ships start arriving from the social collectivist government which replaced the one they escaped. These ships take much less time to arrive due to advances in physics, so the colonists, who had planned to be alone indefinitely, are suddenly bombarded with new people they can't support and a government that is just as oppressive as the one they fled from. This is the story of leaving the colony for another continent, small uprisings, and finally, a major battle with the leader of the social collectivist government. Highly recommended.
