04:47 pm: The Woodsman
It's been a while since I had time to watch a DVD and even though I'm not caught up with the papers, I needed to do some beadwork. You'd never know the protagonist, Walter, was played by Kevin Bacon. He's gaunt, bad haircut, walks funny.

The story is that a man who has sexually assaulted little girls comes out of prison after years. He gets a job in a lumberyard and has an affair with a woman (Kyra Sedgewick) who works there, and although he's tempted, he appears to holding on. Then a crisis happens and his world falls apart.

What the movie really is, though, is a character study of Walter. A heart-rending harrowing character study.

Highly recommended.
