05:44 pm: Annoying Things
I got a call from another Verizon tech who had me pull up the diagnostics again and she ran some line checks and said I'd get a call after 1pm tomorrow. Very helpful.

I went to PetSmart to get litter and wet food and a new litterbox. I was doing the monthly washout last week, scrubbing at stains that never come out, when I realized that I'd had that box for about 25 years and really, litterboxes are cheap!

There were four dead crickets in the foyer this morning, which means one or both of the boys caught and killed them. Spirit always eats everything except the legs. She always seems frustrated when the boys try to catch something that she can't see.

I'm still catching up on the newspapers and Friday's WashPost had an article on boot-camp style Spiritual Warfare Camp. Amazing parents hate their kids that much.

This next may be TMI; I'm putting it in to document it:

The reason I haven't had a colonoscopy is because 1) I'm already severely dehydrated and Kaiser wants to pull water out of me, and 2) Kaiser thinks I should do the last enema while driving on I-66. Well, in the WashPost business briefs, there's a bit that says that Fleet's, which is what Kaiser wants me to use, has caused serious kidney damage and death (like I don't already have serious kidney damage). Fleet says the product is safe when used properly, in the proper patients, with enough hydration. So I have something to try again to talk Kaiser into letting me use a different method of prep.

Hooboy. I'm scheduled for a colonoscopy in October, and I take two of the drugs mentioned as increasing the risk of kidney damage when used with Fleet's. Thanks for the tip. I guess I'd better talk to my doctor.

Your description of Spirit's cricket-eating habits cracked me up.

Yep, talk to your doctor. Part of my problem is that Kaiser is segmented so it's hard for me to talk to the doctor who will do the colonoscopy or staff close enough to him. I'm supposed to take the paper, follow the directions, and show up. I really don't think those directions are safe for me.

Spirit has always eaten every bug she's caught, but usually all of them. It was just the crickets where she left the legs. The boys were hunting one the other evening and it hopped into her view briefly and she jumped, but it had jumped out of her view. She's still seeing better in the daytime, but the crickets don't come out then. She is occasionally bonking her nose into things and has trouble missing the water bowl when she jumps. I haven't figured out a solution for that, yet, and I want to before she goes completely blind.
