09:33 pm: Cats in the Recliner
They just all cuddled in together. That's Giorgio's tail over Shiva's neck and Spirit tucked in the front. They're all on one side of the chair (and their eyes are all green).

Those eyes came out magnificently. For some reason right now this picture is making me think of the chimera people in Maureen McHugh's Nekropolis.

I haven't read that yet; I'll have to remember the picture when I do.

Late in the book, you get a glimpse of how they relate to each other when they have a choice. You'll see it when you get there, but don't expect it early on.

That exceeds your cuteness quota for the year, probably. The noses! And the white collar made by the tail! And Shiva's blaze!

Okay, I have to go lie down now.

LOL I was just thinking you can't see any of Shiva's white except the blaze! He's all white on his tummy and feet!

If that makes you have to go lie down, don't ever look at Cute Overload. <grin>

That's the first thing I look at on the web when I start up. Might as well have a smile on my face when I start!

I agree, those are very cute cats.

Aside: you might be amused to know that I am rereading JG&R and it made me go create a super-hero in City of Heroes (a PC-based MMORPG) named AvertedVision :)

Oh, now, that tail wrap is just so cute. Looks like an Elric sort of cat. What a fine little family.

Spirit and Giorgio are pure-bred shorthair Orientals. My vet asked me to take them because they're mentally ill (anxiety disorder & compulsive disorder, and kitty PTSD, respectively) and Shiva turned up at the door howling in the middle of Thanksgiving night 2001 and insisted on living with us. I found out before I took him in that his old people moved somewhere they couldn't have cats and just left him. So I have a little family of rejects. ;)

I once lived with a cat who was a compulsive overeater; fortunately, having two extra humans around to provide food regularly helped a lot.

It's cool that your cats get along so well that they're willing to pile together. It doesn't always happen. And that wrapped tail is the nicest touch.

Shiva ate like crazy when he first moved in. It took months for him to figure out that there would always be food. (Maybe the kitty litter would be scarce....)

I was sitting in the recliner last night reading the paper and wished I'd brought my camera over. Spirit and Giorgio were sitting between my legs with Giorgio's head nestled on Spirit's right arm and Spirit's left arm and head on Giorgio's neck. Shiva was up on top of the back of the recliner. When he sits up there while I'm in the chair, he'll put a front leg down for me to smooch and if I don't notice soon enough, he nudges me with it.

Whoever said cats weren't social animals ought to get out more.

Wonderful picture.
